Week 6 Recap Early Games

Dolphins 23, Packers 20 OT
Dolphins: Ronnie Brown (19-73) and Ricky Williams (13-64) coming off the bye week were susposed to be leaned on more. Brown and Williams combined for 32 carries the most so far this year. Look for them to be used the same as they were last year with Brown the one with more value. With the return to a running team it happened that Brandon Marshall would be hurt by it. But Marshall hauled in 10 passes for 127 yards. Marshall is a solid WR1. Hot waiver wire pickup Davone Bess scored 1 TD and had 5 catches for 37 yards. Bess is still a solid WR4 but with the Dolphins looking to get back to running the ball his numbers will be limited.

Packers: Aaron Rodgers threw for 313 yards and had 2 TDs (1 rushing). With the loss of Jermichael Finley Rodgers didn't slow down a bit and remains one of the top fantasy QBs. Greg Jennings benefited the most with the loss of Finley. Reports this week said that the Packers wanted to get Jennings more involved and it happened yesterday. Jennings had his best game of the year with 6 catches for 133 yards and 1 TD. Jennings was a great buy low candidate coming into this week and if you were able to get him it has paid off great so far. Jennings should continue to put up good stats because he is the only deep threat the Packers have now and he has one of the easier schedules for WRs. Brandon Jackson (12-53, 3-29) had a decent game but the Packers don't trust him to carry the load. His fantasy stats will continued to be limited to a RB3/RB4. Donald Driver is dealing with a leg injury and it showed this week with him only have 3 catches for 31 yards.

Rams 20, Chargers 17
Rams: Steven Jackson led the charge for the Rams in this upset of the Chargers. Jackson scored his 2nd TD of the season and had 109 yards rushing on 29 carries. Jackson has put up good yardage stats and now if the TDs can start to come he will shoot up the RB rankings. Danny Amendola (3-19) was thought to be the one that would step in and get the stats that Mark Clayton would get. But that wasn't the case undrafted rookie Danario Alexander led  the team in receiving with 72 yards on 4 catches and 1 TD.

Chargers: Antonio Gates (2-12) and Malcom Floyd (2-15) both left with injures in the game. Gates was in alot of pain after getting his leg rolled up on a tackle. The injury to Gates ended up being to his toe but it is not the one that he had surgery on. Early reports on hopeful that Gates can play next week. The news on Floyd is not as good. Word is it was a hamstring injury and he will not play next week and its unknown when he will return to play. Because of the injures two Philip Rivers top two options, Rivers had his lowest yardage output of the season with just 249 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. Patrick Crayton stepped in and led the recievers with 6 recptions for 119 yards. Look for Crayton to be the one of the main targets for Rivers next week. Ryan Mathews took over the starting RB duties this week finally and had 12 carries for 64 yards and 3 receptions for 12 yards. Mike Tolbert was regulated to backup and only had 3 carries for 3 yards. But Tolbert scored a 1 yard TD. Look for Mathews to dominate touches and yards but Tolbert will be the goal line back and that will limit Mathew's TD production.

Patriots 23, Ravens 20 OT
Patriots: This was the first game for the Patriots since the Randy Moss trade and the trade for Deion Branch. Tom Brady played no differently than he has before and had 292 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT. Newly reunited WR Deion Branch looked like the Superbowl MVP that he was hauling in 9 receptions for 98 and 1 TD. Look for Branch to be Brady's top target moving forward as long as he stays healthy. Danny Woodhead again had a solid game rushing and receiving. Woodhead had 11 carries for 63 yards and 5 receptions for 52 yards. BenJarvus Green-Ellis had 10 carries for 20 yards and 1 TD. With Fred Taylor hurt Green-Ellis and Woodhead have shared RB duties. Look for Woodhead to continue to be the 3rd down back and if he runs well he may start to eat into Green-Ellis' carries. TE Aaron Hernandez (4-61) and Wes Welker (7-53) had okay games. Look for Hernandez and Welker to get better numbers once opposing teams start to realize Deion Branch can still play.

Ravens: Ray Rice followed up last weeks great game this week with 126 yards on 36 touches. It wasn't the best of games for Rice but he had a season high 8 receptions and his owners in PPR leagues should be happy. Anquan Boldin had 4 catches for 63 yards and 1 TD. Boldin had a great matchup this week and the TD bailed him out of having a medicore game. Derrick Mason had the better game with 8 catches for 100 yards agains the poor pass D of the Patriots.

Steelers 28, Browns 10
Steelers: The return of Ben Roethlisberger was all vintage Big Ben. Roethlisberger threw for 257 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT. Mike Wallace (3-90-1), Hines Ward (5-54-1) and Heath Miller (2-50-1) all scored a TD this week and made their owners happy. Look for those 3 guys to sky rocket in the rankings with Roethlisberger back. Rashard Mendenhall continued his good season with 99 yards total on 30 touches and 1 TD. Mendenhall will also benefit from Big Ben's return now teams won't load the box to try and stop him.

Browns: Peyton Hillis was held out of the endzone for the first time this season in this game. Hillis did put up oaky numbers rushing for 41 yards on 12 carries and adding 49 yards on 6 recptions. Look for Hillis to rebound next week against New Orleans. Colt McCoy NFL debut wasn't as bad as it could have been. McCoy threw for 281 yards and rushed for 22 yards. He passed for 1 TD and had 2 INTs. Outside of Hillis no other Browns player is worth a start for fantasy owners.

Texans 35, Chiefs 31
Texans: Andre Johnson appears to finally be nearing 100%. Johnson had a great game hauling in 8 passes for 138 yards and 1 TD. Same goes for Owen Daniels who had added on last weeks good outing with even a better one this week. Daniels had 5 receptions for 79 yards. With Johnson and Daniels look healthy look for Matt Schaub's (25/33-305-2-0) numbers to take off along with Johnson and Daniels. Arian Foster rushed 18 times for 71 yards and 2 TDs. Foster also had 6 catches for 26 yards. Foster is a sure fire RB1 but reports out of Houston is that Derrick Ward (3-58-1) will start to have a bigger role in the offense to keep Foster fresher. Look for Ward to get around 8 touches a game while spelling Foster.

Chiefs: The Chiefs rushing game dominated again for this game. Thomas Jones rushed for 100 yards on 19 carries and had 1 TD. Jamaal Charles rushed 16 times for 93 yards and added in 4 catches for 24 yards. Again as long as one of these guys are healthy they will limit each others value every week. Dwyane Bowe finally broke out and had 108 yards on 6 catches and 2 TDs. Hopefully Bowe can continue playing well so his owners can justify the mid round pick they spent on him as there WR2.

Giants 28, Lions 20
Giants: Hakeem Nicks was limited to 3 catches for 8 yards in this game. While Steve Smith (6-70) and Mario Manningham (4-51-1) led the way for the Giants receivers. Eli Manning had passed for just 177 yards and had 2 TDs. The other big note besides Nicks horrible game was the return of the TD vulture Brandon Jacobs. Ahmed Bradshaw rushed well in the game gaining 133 yards on 19 carries. But once the Giants got near the goal line Brandon Jacobs came in a he scored 2 short TDs in the game. Jacobs had 9 carries for 35 yards. If Jacobs continues to be the goal line back look for Bradshaw's TD numbers to be limited and his value will drop because of it.

Lions: Another Lions QB went down with an injury but it didn't hurt Calvin Johnson (5-146-1) at all. Shaun Hill (9/15-91-1-0) left early in the game with a broken foreman in his non-throwing arm. Drew Stanton stepped in and had 222 yards passing with 1 TD and 1 INT. The Lions are on bye next week but in Week 8 Matt Stafford is reportedly to return. Javhid Best since his week 2 breakout game as been average at best. This week his was horrible. Best rushed just 12 times for 16 yards and had 6 catches for 31 yards. Nate Burleson had a solid game scoring another TD and having 50 yards on 6 catches. Brandon Pettigrew also continued his solid season hauling in 7 passes for 61 yards. But Pettigrew remains a TE2 and bye week fill.

Eagles 31, Falcons 17
Eagles: Kevin Kolb had another great same pasing for 326 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT. Kolb is making a good case that he should remain the starter in Philly but as of right now head coach Andy Reid says that Michael Vick is still the starter "for now".  LeSean McCoy rushed just for 64 yards on 21 carries and added 4 receptions for 21 yards. McCoy is still a solid RB1 and has a tough matchup next week against the Titans, so expectations should be limited. The biggest news though is that DeSean Jackson after rushing for a 31 yard TD and catching a 34 yard TD left the game with a severe concussion on the vicious helmet to helmet hit. Jackson is reportedly to be out multiple weeks which means good news for Jeremy Maclin owners. Maclin had a huge game hauling in 7 balls for 159 yards and 2 TDs. Maclin becomes a WR1 with the injury to Jackson.

Falcons: Michael Turner was held quiet again this week as the Falcons got behind early. Turner had just 45 yards rushing on 15 carries. Turner has yet to breakout this season and his owners have to be frustrated with is play. Turner has been a TD machine when he has started but his year he has just 1 TD. Michael Jenkins had 5 catches for 99 yards to lead the WRs. While Roddy White had 6 catches for 86 yards. Tony Gonzalez caught 2 TDs and had just 3 catches for 19 yards.

Seahawks 23, Bears 20
Seahawks: Newly acquired RB Marshawn Lynch rushed 17 times for 44 yards and 1 TD. But Justin Forsett outrushed him with 64 yards on 10 carries and 1 TD himself. Forsett continues to do well when given the chance. Look for Lynch and Forsett to split the carries in Seattle limiting each others value. Mike Williams had a big game catching 10 passes for 123 yards. After the game HC Pete Carroll said they made it a priority to get the ball to Williams. Williams looks like he will be the guy to benefit the most from the trade of Deion Branch not Golden Tate who didn't catch 1 pass. Deon Butler also had a TD and finished the game with 4 catches for 47 yards.

Bears: Jay Cutler returned this week from his concussion and had a okay game passing for 290 yards but no TDs. Matt Forte rushed for a 6 yard TD early in the game and it looked like he was off to a another good game. But Forte finished with just 11 yards rushing on 8 carries and 3 receptions with 40 yards. Again the Bears abandoned the run early in the game. Johnny Knox had a solid game with 120 yards on 5 receptions. Knox is a solid WR3 when Cutler is in the game and not on his butt when his line decides not to block.

Saints 31, Buccaneers 6
Saints: Drew Brees and the Saints rebounded this week. Brees passed or 263 yards and threw 3 TDs and 1 INT. Brees looked like his old self this week and is still a top end QB1. Christopher Ivory had a breakout game rushing 15 times for 158 yards. Ivory has probably played himself into a bigger role with the Saints when Pierre Thomas and/or Reggie Bush return from injures. Robert Meachem (4-71-1) and Lance Moore (2-57-1) both scored a TD this week and Marques Colston had 5 catches for 53 yards. Brees spreads the ball around too much to make any of the Saints WRs any more than a WR3 at this point of the season.

Buccaneers: Nothing much to say about the Bucs in this game. Caddy Williams remains the main back even though coaches said he would have carries taken away from other backs. Williams had just 18 yards on 10 carries and 7 receptions for 63 yards. Rookie WR Mike Williams had his first poor game catching just 4 passes for 45 yards. As of right now Mike Williams is the only Buc that could be considered a starter for fantasy owners
