Waiver Wire 6

Running Back

Danny Woodhead, Patriots: Really don't know where to put Woodhead since he is eligible at RB and WR. I will put him in the RB section because he is getting more carries than receptions. Woodhead the last few years has been a preseason star for the New York Jets. He was just never given the chance to show what he can do because of his small size and others in front of him. The Jets released Woodhead after Week 1 and the Patriots snatched him up. Since then Woodhead has scored 2 TDs and last week he put up 63 yards rushing on 11 carries and another 52 on 5 receptions against a tough Baltimore Ravens D. Woodhead has emerged as Pats 3rd down back and has probably earned himself more playing time with this performance. Woodhead should added in PPR leagues right now and viewed as a RB3/Flex and in standard formats he is worth a stash as a spot starter.

Christopher Ivory, Saints: Ivory had 158 yards on just 15 carries this past week against the Bucs. Ivory has shown great speed and power the last few weeks with the injuries to Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush. Ivory has another easier matchup against the Browns this coming week and he should be in for another good game. With another solid game Ivory should earn himself a role in the Saints offense when Thomas and/or Bush return from injuries. As for now Ivory should be owned in deeper leagues and should be owned in all dynasty type leagues.

James Stark, Packers: This is a super deep sleeper here. Starks was hyped somewhat in the preseason by the coaches as someone who could be possible replace Ryan Grant. But Starks suffered a hamstring injury and was out for Training Camp. Starks hasn't seen game action since Jan. 2009 when he was in college at Buffalo. Starks this week was activated from the PUP list and with Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn struggling to get the Packers running game going Starks could emerge there as a viable RB. Starks won't play anytime soon but in about 4 weeks Starks could be given a shot to be the starting RB for the Packers. Starks is only worth a stash in dynasty type leagues and really deep leagues.

Wide Receivers

Danario Alexander, Rams: Alexander had 4 catches for 72 yards and 1 TD in his NFL debut. Alexander is an undrafted rookie out of Missouri because of concern over his knees. He was one of the top receviers in college last year posting 113 receptions, 1781 yards and 13 TDs. Alexander has the play making ability to put up decents stats in the NFL. Look for Alexander to put up WR3 type numbers for the Rams and he should be owned in all leagues.

Deion Branch, Patriots: If Branch is still available in your league he is worth a pickup. Branch was reunited with Tom Brady last week and they started off just like they left off. Branch had 9 catches for 98 yards and a TD. Brady spreads the ball around but Branch should be in line for at least WR3 production. Branch should be owned in all leagues.

Jason Avant, Eagles:  With the severe concussion that DeSean Jackson suffered this past week, Jason Avant will be in line for more playing time. Maclin will move to Jackson's spot in the offense though and Avant will move into Maclin's spot. Avant is a good pickup in PPR leagues and should be viewed as a WR3/WR4 for as long as Jackson is out.

Patrick Crayton, Chargers: Malcom Floyd went down with a hamstring injury this past week and Antonio Gates went down with a toe injury.  Crayton stepped up as Rivers main target and Crayton hauled in 6 passes for 117 yards. Floyd is reportedly already ruled out this week and Gates is hopeful he might be able to play. But either wya Crayton is worthy of a pick up and start this week against the poor Pats passing D. Crayton should be in line for a good amount of targets and owners can except borderline WR2 stats from
 him.

Quarterback

Matt Stafford, Lions: Stafford may be on the waiver wire in your league due to the shoulder injury he suffered in week 1. But Stafford is set to return Week 8. The Lions have a bye Week 7. The Lions offense has put up decent numbers with him gone and that shouldn't change with his return. Stafford could put up close to QB1 stats the rest of the way as long as he stays healthy. He should be owned in all leagues.
