Waiver Wire 7

Quarterbacks

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bills: Since taking over for Bills four weeks ago Fitzpatrick was put up good numbers. He has thrown 11 TDs with just 4 INTs and has passed for 969 yards. He has also added in 116 yards rushing. This good stretch hasn't all come against cupcakes either. He has put these numbers up against the Patriots, Jets, and Ravens. The Bills are a pass first offense and Fitzpatrick looks like he has built some great chemistry with his wide receivers. Fitzpatrick should be owned in all leagues and for QB hungry teams he is a top waiver wire priority this week and they should ride this hot streak.

Jon Kitna, Cowboys: With Tony Romo out with a broken collarbone for 6-8 weeks Kitna becomes a must add in all leagues. Kitna in relief of Romo on Monday night threw for 187 yards and 2 TDs. Granted it the Cowboys were in come back mode Kitna still has the tools to play well. Kitna has the weapons around him to put up good numbers while Romo is out. I wouldn't expect the same production you would have seen out of Romo but Kitna should still put up solid QB1 numbers. Kitan also has had a history of good play. Back in 2003 he passed for 26 TDs and 3,591 yards. In 2006 and 2007 he was in Detriot and in those two season he passed for 4,208 yards and 4,068 with 21 TDs and 18 TDs. If he can put up those numbers in Detriot who didn't have the talent like he will be playing with in Dallas then Kitna should do just fine.

Matt Stafford, Lions: Stafford might be on rosters still but if he is available in your league I would pick him up over Fitzpatrick and Kitna. Stafford should be owned in all leagues. He is set to return from his injury this week. Shaun Hill put up QB1 type numbers while Stafford was out and in my opinion Stafford is a far better QB.

Running Backs

Donald Brown, Colts: Brown has been out the past 3 games with an injury but all indications point to him being ready to go this week coming out of the Colts bye. With Joseph Addai's status in doubt because of nerve damage in his shoulder Brown is in line to possibly start multiple games for the Colts. I would except Brown to put up the same numbers that Addai has making him a solid RB2. Brown should be owned in all leagues right now.

LeGarrette Blount, Buccaneers: A few weeks ago I advised in the weekly waiver wire blog to pick up Blount in deeper leagues. He did nothing for a few weeks but last week he finally got chance and ran the ball well. He rushed for 72 yards on 11 carries. The Tampa Bay coaches have said all year that they were going to give Blount a chance and start to faze out Caddy Williams. I wouldn't except alot out of Blount because Williams is still set to play on passing downs but Blount is worth a pickup in bigger leagues as a RB4/RB5 right now.

Wide Receivers

Steve Johnson, Bills: Since Fitzpatrick too over as the QB in Buffalo Johnson has become his favorite target. Johnson leads the Bills is all the main receiving categories. Johnson has scored at least one touchdown the last four weeks and has a total of five in the last four games. Johnson is a must add in all leagues and owners should ride the hot streak for as long as they can.

Lee Evans, Bills: Who would have thought you would see three Bills players on one waiver wire report this season after how they started out. Evans had a big game catching three touchdowns last week and has scored touchdowns back to back weeks. Evans has been known for always having the ability to be a good NFL and fantasy football wide receiver but he seems to have let downs at times. Evans should be owned in all leagues. Even though he has burned fantasy owners in the past he has also helped some win championships with his big second halves of the season. It should be noted that Evans has never finished outside of the top 35 for fantasy wide receivers.

Week 7 Recap SNF and MNF

Packers 28, Vikings 24
Packers: Aaron Rodgers led the Packers to victory with 295 yards and 2 TDs along with 2 INTs. Greg Jennings again had a good game catching 6 balls for 74 yards and 1 TD. Donald Driver was slowed by a thigh injury and was held without a catch for the first time in 133 games. James Jones though stepped up and caught 4 passes for 107 yards. If either Jennings or Driver were to miss time because of injury Jones would make a great pickup in all leagues. Brandon Jackson scored a TD and had 13 carries for 58 yards and 46 yards on 3 receptions. If Jackson can put up numbers like this on a weekly basis he would be a solid RB2 but he doesn't so he is no more than a RB3/Flex.

Vikings: Brett Favre threw 3 INTs and had 212 yards passing and 1 TD. Favre was shown limping badly after a tackle but finished the game out. It was reported on Monday that Favre suffered two factures in his ankle and could miss this weeks game. More than likely Favre may try to tough it out but for fantasy purposes he should not be started in leagues and can be dropped  for better options in leagues. Adrian Peterson ran well again gaining 131 yards on 28 carries and 1 TD. Adrian also had 41 yards on 2 receptions. Adrian continues to be the most consistent of the top backs drafted this fall in fantasy leagues. Percy Harvin has played great since the addition of Moss. This week Harvin rushed 3 times for 41 yards and a TD. He also caught 5 passes for 65 yards. Harvin is a great fantasy WR to have on your team. With Harvin seeing more time at RB and with his kickoff prowess he is a great WR2 for fantasy players. Randy Moss again was quiet this week catching just 3 passes for 30 yards and 1 TD. So far it doesn't look like Moss has a good enough grasp of the Vikings offense and they rarely have taken shots on the downfield to him like they did with Sidney Rice last year.

Giants 41, Cowboys 35
Giants: Eli Manning threw 2 early INTs but settled down at ended the game with 306 yards and 4 TDs with a total of 3 INTs. Hakeem Nicks rebounded from his horrible game last week to score 2 TDs this week and have 108 yards on 9 receptions. Steve Smith also caught a TD and had 9 receptions and finished with 101 yards. 3rd WR Mario Manningham caught the last TD and ended the game with 40 yards on 3 catches. As of right now Nicks is one of the top fantasy WR this season and one of the best young WRs in the NFL today. For fantasy purposed Nicks is a WR1, followed by Smith who I view as a solid WR2. Manningham on the other hand is a great WR4 and mostly a bye week fill in. Ahmad Bradshaw rushed 24 times for 126 yards. While Brandon Jacobs also ran well running for 75 yards on 12 carries and 1 TD. Bradshaw is the lead back in this offense but with Jacobs seeing some more action of late especially at the goal line. Bradshaw may be a good sell high guy right now if you can get a good deal.

Cowboys: Pure and simple the Cowboys season is done. The final nail in the coffin was when Tony Romo broke his collarbone in the second quarter on a big hit. Romo will be out 6-10 weeks because of the injury. Jon Kitna came in to replace Romo and he threw 2 TDs and had 187 yards passing. Jason Witten led the receiving game with a nice game of 9 receptions, 95 yards and 1 TD. But the big winner this week was Dez Bryant. The rookie returned a punt for a TD from 93 yards out in the second quarter. Then in comeback time for the Cowboys Bryant hauled in 4 passes for 54 yards and 2 more TDs. Miles Austin was quiet again this week catching just 3 passes for 38 yards. While Roy Williams was held without a catch in this game. Felix Jones led in carries again with 9 this week. Jones rushed for 35 yards on those 9 carries and he had 3 catches for 27 yards.

Week 7 Recap Late Games

Seahawks 22, Cardinals 10
Seahawks: Mike Williams had another big game receiving this week catching 10 passes for 87 yards and 1 TD. Since the trade of Deion Branch back to New England, Mike Williams has had 21 receptions in the last 2 games. Williams has quickly become Matt Hasselbeck's (20/38-192-1-0) favorite target. Marshawn Lynch carries the load in the backfield rushing 24 times for 89 yards. While Justin Forsett only say 9 carries but he rushed for 41 yards on those carries. Forsett also added 2 receptions for 31 yards. It appears that Lynch is getting the early down work here and Forsett is being used as a change of pace and 3rd down back. As of right now Lynch is the back to have in Seattle but he is no more than a bye week fill in.

Cardinals: Max Hall (4/16-36-0-1) left the game with a injury and Derek Anderson (8/17-94-0-0) replaced him. Both QBs were horrible and it slowed the Cardinals passing game down. Larry Fitzgerald had just 3 catches for 30 yards on the day. Fitzgerald at this point is a WR3  because of the poor QB play in Arizona. I would look to trade him still like I advised in the Trade Market blog a few weeks ago. Beanie Wells scored his first TD of the season this week. Wells finished with 54 yards on 14 carries. The TD come on a 2 yard run which is encouraging since Tim Hightower is usually the goal line back. Speaking of Hightower he outgained Wells with 59 yards on just 6 carries in the game. As of now Wells is the only one that would be worth a start since he is getting the majority of the carries.

Patriots 23, Chargers 20
Patriots: Not much to say about the Pats in this game. Tom Brady threw for just 159 yards and had 1 TD. BenJarvus Green-Ellis scored another TD this week and finished the game with 24 yards on 11 carries.  Danny Woodhead had 11 touches in the game but only managed to gain 52 yards on them. While Deion Branch followed up last weeks good game with a dud only catching for 4 passes for 39 yards. PPR monster Wes Welker has been very quiet the last few weeks and it continued again this week with Welker only getting 25 yards on 4 catches. Aaron Hernandez, the rookie tight end, led the team in receiving with 54 yards on 5 catches. As of right now Tom Brady is the only Patriots offense player that should be started on a weekly basis. The others are all bye week fill in material.

Chargers: Antonio Gates played through a sore toe that bothered him all week and he had a solid game catching 4 passes for 50 yards and 1 TD. Philip Rivers even without his top 2 WRs still put up good numbers passing for 336 yards and the 1 TD that went to Gates. Patrick Crayton led the WRs with 82 yards on 7 catches. With Floyd and Naanee out Crayton makes a solid WR3 for the time being. Ryan Mathews only touched the ball 10 times and gained just 22 yards. While Mike Tolbert got a short TD again this week. Mathews has failed to breakout as the RB that everyone hyped him up to be coming into his rookie season. As of right now Mathews should be on fantasy benches and I wouldn't blame anyone if they outright dropped him in leagues.

Raiders 59, Broncos 14
Raiders: Darren McFadden returned from injury this week and had a career day rushing 16 times for 165 yards and 3 TDs. He also had 2 catches for 31 yards and another TD. McFadden's four TD game probably won alot of his owners games this week if he was in the lineup. If you went up against McFadden and still won this week consider yourself lucky because that doesn't happen quite often when players have monster games like this. Jason Campbell passed for 204 yards and 2 TDs but will return to the bench when Bruce Gradkowski is healthy to play. Zach Miller was the leading receiver scoring a TD and catching 3 passes for 65 yards. Michael Bush also scored a TD in this blowout win and ended the game with 52 yards on 15 carries. Moving forward though look for McFadden to carry the load while Bush is regulated to a change of pace back and probably some goal line work.

Broncos: Kyle Orton had his worst game of the season this year passing for just 198 yards. His two TD passes salvaged his poor game for his fantasy owners though. Knowshon Moreno since returning from injury has been the lead back for the Broncos carrying the load the last two weeks. Moreno carried the ball 14 times for 54 yards and had 3 catches for 37 yards and 2 TDs. Brandon Lloyd was very quiet again this week just catching 1 pass for 46 yards. While Jabar Gaffney led the receiving game with 4 receptions for 54 yards.

Week 7 Recap Early Games

Falcons 39, Bengals 32
Falcons: Roddy White is the best fantasy football WR in the game today. Roddy White had 11 receptions for 201 yards and 2 TDs in Sundays high scoring affair with the Bengals. On the season White has 54 rec., 747 yards, and 5 TDs. As of right now I would not trade Roddy White for anyone or anything. Michael Turner had his best game of the season scoring 2 TDs and rushing for 121 yards on 23 carries. Turner also had 3 catches for 23 yards. Hopefully this is a sign that Turner is finally going to live up to the potential his owners were excepting. Matt Ryan had a good game passing for 299 yards and 3 TDs along with 1 INT.

Bengals: Carson Palmer threw the ball 50 times in this game and he completed 36 of them for 3 TDs and 412 yards. All three of the Bengals top WR had a TD. Terrell Owens had 9 catches for 88 yard and 1 TD, Chad Ochocinco hauled in 10 passes for 108 yard and 1 TD, and Jordan Shipley had 6 catches for 131 yards and 1 TD. Owens has been the most consitent WR for the Bengals this season. While Ochocinco has not been good outside of  Week 1 and this week. I think Ochocinco bought himself some more time with his owners who were on the verge of dropping him. Cedric Benson rushed for 70 yards on 20 carries. Again Benson is a RB2 at most and he will not find the endzone that much in a pass first offense.

Steelers 23, Dolphins 22
Steelers: Hines Ward had a big game catching 7 balls for 131 yards and 1 TD. Mike Wallace also had a TD and finished the game with just 2 catches for 53 yards. Ward and Wallace will continue to be excellent WR options for fantasy owners the rest of the year. Rashard Mendenhall rushed 15 times for 37 yards. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said leading up to this weeks game that they will start to mix in the other RBs to keep Mendenhall fresh. Mewelde Moore saw some action in the backfield but not enough to worry Mendenhall owners. Ben Roethlisberger had a solid game passing for 302 yards and 2 TDs. Look for Roethlisberger to continue to put up QB1 numbers.

Dolphins: Davone Bess continued his hot streak with 6 catches for 66 yards and his 3rd TD of the season. Bess is a solid WR3 in all league formats. Brandon Marshall was held in check only catching 5 passes for 57 yards. Ricky Williams outrushed Ronnie Brown this week. Williams had 11 carries for 49 yards while Brown had 9 carries for just 14 yards. Brown did have 2 receptions for 20 yards. Chad Henne threw for 257 yards and had 1 TD. Dan Carpenter was the big winner for the Dolphins kicking 5 FGs on the day. Look for the Dolphins to rebound next week against Cincinnati.

Ravens 37, Bills 34 OT
Ravens: Joe Flacco put up good numbers passing for 250 yards and 3 TDs in this come from behind victory for the Ravens. Flacco has just been too inconsistent to be considered a solid QB1. Ray Rice ran 16 times for 72 yards and had just 1 reception. Willis McGahee ran the ball 11 times for 64 yards and scored a 2 yard TD. Coming into the week the Ravens coaches decided to get McGahee more involved and they did this week. For Ray Rice owners this is not good news. For the time being except Rice to get RB2 numbers not the RB1 numbers  everyone was excepting out of him coming into the year. Todd Heap caught 2 TDs and ended the game with 3 catches for 59 yards. Anquan Boldin had 6 catches for 92 yards and 1 TD.

Bills: Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bills offense has become fantasy relevant again because of his play. Fitzpatrick threw for 372 yards and 3 TDs. Since taking over as QB 4 weeks ago Fitzpatrick has put up 11 TDs and passed for 969 yards. Because of Fitzpatrick's solid play Steve Johnson has emerged as a solid fantasy WR. Johnson had 8 receptions for 158 yards and 1 TD. Johnson has scored a TD each of the last 4 weeks for a total of 5 TDs. Lee Evans has a huge game catching 6 passes for 105 yards and 3 TDs. Evans last two games have accounted for all 4 of his TDs and half of his receptions and three quarters of his yardage on the season. Evans could be coming around and may be a solid WR3 going forward. Fred Jackson continued to be the lead back for the Bill rushing 23 times for 73 yards. Jackson is no more than a RB3 at this time. CJ Spiller should be on waiver wires in redraft leagues.

Chiefs 42, Jaguars 20
Chiefs: Matt Cassel managed the game well again for the Chiefs passing for 2 TDs and 193 yards. Both TDs went Dwayne Bowe who finished the game with 3 catches for 81 yards and those 2 TDs. Bowe in the last two weeks has scored 4 TDs and may finally getting  back to where he was in his breakout rookie season. Thomas Jones led the Chiefs in rushing. Jones ran for 125 yards on 20 carries and he had 1 TD. Jamaal Charles ran for 71 yards on 15 carries and 1 TD. Jones and Charles are both worth starts for fantasy owners. The two are turning into   a duo just like DeAngelo Williams/Jonathan Stewart were in the past few seasons.

Jaguars: Todd Bouman saw his first start since 2005 when he was with the Saints. Bouman passed for 222 yards and 2 TDs with 2 INTs. Mike Sims-Walker scored his 3rd TD of the season and he finished the game with 3 catches for 38 yards. Surprisingly  Mike Thomas was held catchless in this game. The only Jaguars player that seemed to benefit from Bouman as the QB was Maurice Jones-Drew. Jones-Drew had 47 yards rushing on 16 carries but he had 5 receptions for 74 yards and 1 TD. The 5 receptions is a season high for Jones-Drew.

Browns 30, Saints 17
Browns: Peyton Hillis rushed for 69 yards on 16 carries and scored his 6th TD of the season. We also found out his can pass this week. Hillis completed a 13 yard pass to Colt McCoy. Ben Watson was held to just 1 catch for 18 yards. Again I don't think Watson is a good long term replacement for Dallas Clark owners and this game shows why I feel that way. There isn't much more to say about the Browns on the offensive side of the ball. The Browns D scored 2 TDs on the day and that was the difference in the game.

Saints: Drew Brees threw 4 INTs for the first time in a game since 2007. Bree finished the game with 358 yards and 2 TDs. Christopher Ivory rushed 15 times for 48 yards. Look for Ivory to carry the load in the backfield for the time being since Pierre Thomas can not get healthy and is in the coaches doghouse because of it. Reggie Bush is expected back next week and he could take a few carries away from Ivory but don't except it to be too many since Bush is better as a receiving back. Marques Colston finally put up WR1 numbers this week hauling in 10 passes for 112 yards and 1 TD.

Redskins 17, Bears 14
Redskins: Donavon McNabb threw for just 200 yards and had 1 TD along with 2 INTs in this game. McNabb  has started to slow down of late and is no more than a QB2 right now. Ryan Torain ran for over 100 yards again this week with 125 yards on 21 carries. Torain has a been a solid waiver wire pickup for RB hungry fantasy owners this season. Santana Moss caught McNabb's lone TD pass and Moss finished with 5 catches for 63 yards. Chris Cooley played this week despite suffering a concussion and had a solid game catching 7 passes for 52 yards.

Bears: Jay Cutler threw for 281 yards and 1 TD. Cutler also threw 4 INTs, all of them to DeAngelo Hall, which lead the the Bears losing this game. Matt Forte rushed for 41 yards on 10 carries and had 5 receptions for 32 yards. Again Forte in my opinion is a sell high candidate. Johnny Knox was Cutler's top target catching 6 for 86 yards and 1 TD.

Panthers 23, 49ers 20
Panthers: Matt Moore looked like the QB that finished strong late last season and not the one that struggled early this season. Moore passed for 308 yard and 2 TDs with 1 INT. Steve Smith returned from injury and catch 4 passed for 50 yards. But Moore's top target was rookie WR David Gettis. Gettis hauled in both of Moore's TD passes and had 125 yards on 8 catches. Fellow rookie WR Brandon LaFell also had a good game catching 6 passed for 91 yards. DeAngelo Williams (19-44, 4-19) and Jonathan Stewart (14-29) were held in check by the 49ers D. Both Williams and Stewart have struggled this year. Stewart can be dropped in redraft leagues and Williams right now can not be viewed as more than a RB3/RB4.

49ers: Alex Smith was off to a solid start with 129 yards and 1 TD. But Smith went down with a shoulder injury to his non throwing arm. David Carr came in a slowed the 49ers offense down only passing for 67 yards and 1 INT. Frank Gore had 19 carries for 102 yards and 4 catches for 57 yards. Vernon Davis caught the lone TD pass and finished the day with 74 yards on 4 catches. Michael Crabtree only had 4 catches this week for just 31 yards. With Alex Smith out the other 49ers offense players may struggle to put up their normal stats while he is out.

Buccaneers 18, Rams 17
Buccaneers: Josh Freeman threw for 212 yards and 1 TD. LeGarrette Blount finally took over as the Bucs led back rushing 11 times for 72 yards. Caddy Williams had 4 carries for 12 yards but he had 8 receptions for 34 yards and 1 TD. Look for Blount to takeover the early down carriers and Williams to play mostly 3rd downs and passing plays.

Rams: Sam Bradford had 2 TDs and 126 yards passing on the day. Steven Jackson rushed 22 times for 110 yards and had 2 catches for 35 yards. Jackson continues to put up good yardage numbers and is a solid RB2 because of it. Danny Amendola caught 1 of Bradford's passing TDs and finished the game with 29 yards on 3 catches. Hot waiver wire pickup Danario Alexander was held to 1 catch because of his sore knee that has been surgical repaired 4 times.

Titans 37, Eagles 19
Titans: Kenny Britt had a huge game catching 3 TDs and 225 yards on 7 receptions. The bad thing is a few owners may have benched him after reports came out late in the week that he was involved in a bar fight and would not start the game. Britt did sit for one and half quarter. Reports say the NFL and the Titans are still looking into the incident and more punishment may be coming. Kerry Collins filled in nicely for Vince Young throwing 3 TDs and having 276 yards passing. Chris Johnson was held  in check with just 66 yards on 24 carries. Johnson was been very up and down this season but he can never been benched because of his potential to win fantasy games for his owners every week.

Eagles: Kevin Kolb looked human this week throwing 2 INTs and finishing the game with just 212 yards passing and 1 INT. Vick is set to return after the Eagles bye as starting QB so Kolb can return to fantasy benches come Week 9. LeSean McCoy rushed 16 times for 48 yards and hauled in 6 passed for 54 yards. Jeremy Maclin was excepted get a big boost with DeSean Jackson out but he was held to just 42 yards on 5 receptions. The Eagles leading WR was Jason Avant who had 6 catches for 66 yards. Riley Cooper caught the lone TD and finished the game with 51 yards on 3 catches. Look for the Eagles offense to get a big boost when Vick returns.

Replacing Dallas Clark

With the news that Dallas Clark will be out indefinitely with a hand/wrist injury he fantasy owners are more than likely looking for a replacement. Most of his owners already planned to be with out him this week due to the Colts bye. But now they may need to look for a long term solution. Here are my thoughts on who his owners could pick up to replace Clark. I should first say that none of these guys can replace the production that Clark would have given his owners but I feel these choices have the best chance to help try and replace it.

  1. Heath Miller, Steelers: Miller is still available in about 40-50 percent of leagues hosted on the main fantasy league websites. With the return of Ben Roethlisberger, Heath Miller had his best game of the year catching his first TD of the season and receiving for 50 yards. Last year Miller had 76 receptions for 789 yards and 6 TDs. Now I dont think Miller will get to the reception and yardage totals his had last season. But I think Miller is the best bet to score the most TDs out of the TEs on this list. I see Miller ending the season with around 50 receptions, 600 yards and 6 TDs.
  2. Owen Daniels, Texans (on bye this week): Daniels was coming into the season recovering from a ACL injury he suffered in Week 8 last season. Daniels was one of the best fantsay TEs before getting hurt. Daniels the past two weeks has started to show that he may be finally over the knee injury and the tweaked hamstring his was also dealing with. Owen had 3 receptions for 45 yards and 5 receptions for 75 yards. The Texans have a very potent offense and with Daniels getting healthy it will only make them better. I see Daniels if truly healthy to finish the season with around 65 receptions, 650 yards and 5 TDs.
  3. Benjamin Watson, Browns: Watson is more than likely the top scoring TE available in your league. Watson has put up good numbers the last 4 weeks with a total of 22 receptions, 240 yards and 2 TDs. Watson has always been a player that has shown flashes that he could be a viable fantasy TE but never lived up to it. I am personally hesitant of Watson because of his past letdowns and that he also plays for the Browns. Watson could possibly finish with better numbers than Miller and Daniels because he is off to a better start this season but I tend to lean more to guys that have historically shown they can be consistent.
  4. Donald Lee, Packers: Lee is a very deep sleeper for a TE that could finish well. With Finley going down two weeks ago with a knee injury for the season  Lee has moved to the starting TE spot for the Packers. Lee caught a TD in the game that Finley got hurt but left the game with a chest injury himself. Lee was suppose to miss a week or two with the injury but he practiced and played last week. Though Lee didn't get one reception in the game I think Lee in the long run will start to put up numbers. Before Finley came to the Packers and landed on all fantasy owners radars, Lee put up 6 TDs in 2007 and 5 TDs in 2008.

Injury Report-Colts Edition

The news today out of Indy today wasn't good for fantasy owners of two of their top point scorers. Tight end Dallas Clark has suffered a possibly season ending hand/wrist injury.  Clark is seeking a second and third opinion on the injury. Regardless Clark will be out for an extended period of time. The other injury news was from running back Joseph Addai. Addai suffered a shoulder injury in Week 4 and now he could miss a few weeks due to nerve damage. The nerve damage is reportedly not in the shoulder he hurt in Week 4. So with now that we know about these injures how will it affect the Colts offense and how should fantasy owners go about dealing with these injuries.

Lets look at how Dallas Clark's injury will impact the Colts from a fantasy prospective. First off it won't hurt Peyton Manning. Manning is a top flight fantasy QB no matter to whom he is throwing to at this point in his career. The player that probably gets the biggest boost from Clark's injury is Austin Collie. Collie so far has been the top fantasy WR this season. With Clark out Collie will see more playing time that he lost when Pierre Garcon returned to the lineup. Look for Collie to lineup in the slot in certain formations that would have previously been held by Clark. Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon will continue to work the outside for the Colts and their fantasy value will also get a small boost. But overall I see this benefiting Collie the most since his stock was beginning to slip some with Garcon's return.

Now with Joseph Addai it isn't as clear of a picture as Clark since Addai could be back after the bye or miss a fews weeks. Donald Brown has been battling a hamstring injury for a few weeks but is reportedly going to be good to go when the Colts return from their Week 7 bye. Brown should be the first in line to start for the Colts at RB and Mike Hart will also have a role in the running game. But in my opinion Brown will be the more productive back from a fantasy view. Look for Brown to put up just as good as numbers that Addai would have if he was playing making him a solid RB2. Mike Hart could possibly see some limited duty and could even start if Brown isn't fully healthy and Hart would make a good spot start for owners with bye week problems.

UPDATE!!!! Reports out of Indy are now saying that Austin Collie will be also sidelined for a few weeks after having surgery on his hand. Collie could miss 2 weeks up to 6 weeks according to some reports. Anthony Gonzalez is set to return after the bye from an ankle injury. He makes an immediate pick up in all leagues. Look for Reggie Wayne to see an increase in receptions and the same goes for Pierre Garcon

Week 6 Targets

FantasySharks.com Target Report

  • Brandon Marshall led all WRs with 17 targets. He hauled in 10 of those targets.
  • Mike Williams of Seattle had 15 targets this week and he turned it into a good game with 10 catches and 123 yards. Pete Carroll said it was a point of emphasis to get Williams the ball this past week. With Branch gone look for Williams to be the main target for Matt Hasselbeck.
  • Deion Branch had 12 targets in his first game back in New England since the trade. Look for Branch to be one of Tom Bradys top targets from here on out.
  • Felix Jones and Ray Rice led the RBs in targets this week with 10. Jones hauled in all 10 of those targets and had a big day in PPR leagues. Ray Rice caught 8 of his targets. This is a good sign that maybe the Ravens will start using Rice in the passing game like he was last year meaning that Rice will start to regain the value he held in PPR leagues going into the season

Waiver Wire 6

Running Back

Danny Woodhead, Patriots: Really don't know where to put Woodhead since he is eligible at RB and WR. I will put him in the RB section because he is getting more carries than receptions. Woodhead the last few years has been a preseason star for the New York Jets. He was just never given the chance to show what he can do because of his small size and others in front of him. The Jets released Woodhead after Week 1 and the Patriots snatched him up. Since then Woodhead has scored 2 TDs and last week he put up 63 yards rushing on 11 carries and another 52 on 5 receptions against a tough Baltimore Ravens D. Woodhead has emerged as Pats 3rd down back and has probably earned himself more playing time with this performance. Woodhead should added in PPR leagues right now and viewed as a RB3/Flex and in standard formats he is worth a stash as a spot starter.

Christopher Ivory, Saints: Ivory had 158 yards on just 15 carries this past week against the Bucs. Ivory has shown great speed and power the last few weeks with the injuries to Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush. Ivory has another easier matchup against the Browns this coming week and he should be in for another good game. With another solid game Ivory should earn himself a role in the Saints offense when Thomas and/or Bush return from injuries. As for now Ivory should be owned in deeper leagues and should be owned in all dynasty type leagues.

James Stark, Packers: This is a super deep sleeper here. Starks was hyped somewhat in the preseason by the coaches as someone who could be possible replace Ryan Grant. But Starks suffered a hamstring injury and was out for Training Camp. Starks hasn't seen game action since Jan. 2009 when he was in college at Buffalo. Starks this week was activated from the PUP list and with Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn struggling to get the Packers running game going Starks could emerge there as a viable RB. Starks won't play anytime soon but in about 4 weeks Starks could be given a shot to be the starting RB for the Packers. Starks is only worth a stash in dynasty type leagues and really deep leagues.

Wide Receivers

Danario Alexander, Rams: Alexander had 4 catches for 72 yards and 1 TD in his NFL debut. Alexander is an undrafted rookie out of Missouri because of concern over his knees. He was one of the top receviers in college last year posting 113 receptions, 1781 yards and 13 TDs. Alexander has the play making ability to put up decents stats in the NFL. Look for Alexander to put up WR3 type numbers for the Rams and he should be owned in all leagues.

Deion Branch, Patriots: If Branch is still available in your league he is worth a pickup. Branch was reunited with Tom Brady last week and they started off just like they left off. Branch had 9 catches for 98 yards and a TD. Brady spreads the ball around but Branch should be in line for at least WR3 production. Branch should be owned in all leagues.

Jason Avant, Eagles:  With the severe concussion that DeSean Jackson suffered this past week, Jason Avant will be in line for more playing time. Maclin will move to Jackson's spot in the offense though and Avant will move into Maclin's spot. Avant is a good pickup in PPR leagues and should be viewed as a WR3/WR4 for as long as Jackson is out.

Patrick Crayton, Chargers: Malcom Floyd went down with a hamstring injury this past week and Antonio Gates went down with a toe injury.  Crayton stepped up as Rivers main target and Crayton hauled in 6 passes for 117 yards. Floyd is reportedly already ruled out this week and Gates is hopeful he might be able to play. But either wya Crayton is worthy of a pick up and start this week against the poor Pats passing D. Crayton should be in line for a good amount of targets and owners can except borderline WR2 stats from
 him.

Quarterback

Matt Stafford, Lions: Stafford may be on the waiver wire in your league due to the shoulder injury he suffered in week 1. But Stafford is set to return Week 8. The Lions have a bye Week 7. The Lions offense has put up decent numbers with him gone and that shouldn't change with his return. Stafford could put up close to QB1 stats the rest of the way as long as he stays healthy. He should be owned in all leagues.

Week 6 Recap SNF and MNF

Colts 27, Redskins 24
Colts: Joseph Addai rushed for 128 yards on 17 carries and had 1 TD. It was Addai's first 100 yard game since Week 11 in 2008. Addai though looked to aggravate his shoulder injury late in the game and had to be helped off the field and didn't return. Peyton Manning had a great game passing for 2 TDs and 307 yards. Pierre Garcon had the big game for the Colts WR hauling a 57 yard TD. Garcon finished the day with 4 catches for 104 yards. Austin Collie continued his hot start as the top fantasy WR scoring his 6th TD of the season and hauling in 7 passes for 57 yards. Reggie Wayne had a quiet game catching only 6 passes for 71 yards. Dallas Clark had just 6 catches also for 52 yards. Look for Wayne to breakout soon as teams have let Collie and the other beat them.

Redskins: Ryan Torain busted out with 100 yards on 20 carries and he rushed for 2 TDs. Torain has a been a nice waiver wire gem so far and should continue to put up solid numbers with the injury to Clinton Portis. Donavon McNabb passed for 246 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs. McNabb has been solid so far this year and should be viewed as a good QB2 and a borderline QB1. Santana Moss had 8 catches for 77 yards and Chris Cooley had 5 receptions for 37 yards. Moss and Cooley have benefited the most with the arrival of McNabb to Washington this year. Look for both to continue to put up solid numbers the rest of the way. It should be noted that Cooley left the game late because of a concussion. It is unknown at this time if he will play next week so be sure to check the practice reports.

Titans 30, Jaguars 3
Titans: Titans D dominate this game creating 4 turnovers and having 2 sacks. The Titans D looks to have returned to the form there were back in 2008 when they finished in the top 5 scoring for D/ST. If they are still available in you league pick them up. Vince Young threw for 61 yards and a TD before leaving the game with a knee injury. Kerry Collins stepped in and played solid throwing for 110 yards and 1 TD also. Kenny Britt keep his TD streak alive catching a 23 yard TD in the first quarter. Britt finished with just 2 catches for 33 yards though. Chris Johnson scored a very late 4th quarter TD on 4th and 5 from 35 yards out to save his fantasy day for his owners. Johnson finished with 111 yards on 26 carries and he added in 2 catches for 20 yards.

Jaguars: Maurice Jones-Drew had just 57 yards on 17 carries in this game. Jones-Drew owners have to be fustrated with his play so far. Most probably used a top 5 pick on him and he has performed far below that. I have been torn on if owners should trade or keep Jones-Drew. But after last nights game I think it is time for his owners to cut bait and see if they can get something decent for him in return. Mike Thomas led the WRs with 8 catches for 88 yards and Mike Sims-Walker was lost again only catching 2 passes for 12 yards. Marcedes Lewis had just 4 catches for 39 yards. David Garrard left the game with a concussion and Trent Edwards replaced him and didn't fair much better. Its still unknown who will start next week but neither is starter worthy for fantasy owners.

Week 6 Recap Late Games

Jets 24, Broncos 20
Jets: Shonn Greene (9-43) had a better yards per carry than LaDanian Tomlinson this week. But Tomlinson scored 2 late TDs to propel the Jets to victory. Tomlinson finished the game with 55 yards on 16 carries.Tomlinson so far this season has been one of the best value picks in this years draft. Look for Tomlinson to continue to dominate the touches in New York as long as he is healthy. Santonio Holmes had 4 receptions for 47 yards on the day. But Holmes biggest play came on a pass interference call that lead to the Jets game winning TD late in the fourth quarter. Braylon Edwards continues to score TDs. Edwards caught 4 balls for 46 yards and  scored his 4th TD of the season. Look for Holmes to become a bigger part of the offense after the Jets bye next week which might limit Edwards numbers.

Broncos: Kyle Orton had his lowest yardage total of the season this week with 209 passing yards. Orton did throw 1 TD though to make his day a okay one for his fantasy owners. Knowshon Moreno returned from injury this week and had 48 yards on 12 carries. Moreno was in the doghouse early in the game after fumbling his first carry of the game. Look for Moreno to be eased back into the lead back role in Denver. I wouldn't except RB1/RB2 numbers from him for maybe 1 or 2 more weeks. Jabar Gaffney led the Broncos in receiving with 6 catches for 81 yards. Gaffney has big a great PPR receiver the last few weeks and should be owned in all PPR leagues. Brandon Lloyd was slowed this week finally only hauling in 4 passes for 74 yards. Look for Lloyd to rebound next week against Oakland. Eddie Royal left with a groin injury so rookie Demaryius Thomas got on the field more and he caught just 1 pass that ended up being a 17 yard TD. Tim Tebow saw his first extended game action this week running the Broncos version of the wildcat called 'Wild Horses". Tebow rushed 6 times for 23 yards and 1 TD. Tebow's TD was from 5 yards out. With this development with Tebow it will be interesting to see how much it is use going forward. This could hurt Moreno's goal line work and take some short passing TDs away from Orton.

49ers 17, Raiders 9
49ers: Alex Smith come into this game on the hot seat and responded with a medicore game. He completed just 16 of his 33 attempts but he threw for 196 yards with 2 TDs and 0 INTs. Frank Gore rushed for a season high 149 yards on 25 carries. Gore who has averaged 6 catches a game through 5 weeks failed to caught 1 ball this week. Michael Crabtree continued his solid play with a 32 yard TD and finished the game with 57 yards on 4 receptions. Vernon Davis caught the other TD and he finished the day with 35 yards on 4 receptions. Since the firing of OC Jimmy Raye both Crabtree and Davis have put in solid games. Look for that to continue because of the 1-5 49ers have realized they need to get the ball into the hands of their top receivers to win ball games.

Raiders: Raiders fans were reminded why they benched Jason Campbell again this week. Campbell threw for just 83 yards and had 2 INTs. Michael Bush was the main back again with Darren McFadden nursing a hamstring injury. Bush rushed 20 times for a measly 47 yards and added 2 receptions for 12 yards. Tight end Zach Miller led the receiving game for the Raiders hauling in 2 passes for 48 yards. As of right now the only worthy fantasy starters for the Raiders are Zach Miller. Darren McFadden, and Michael Bush.

Vikings 24, Cowboys 21
Vikings: Brett Favre wasn't asked to do much in this game. He completed 14 of 19 passing attempts for just 118 yards and 1 TD. Adrian Peterson carried the load for the Vikings with 24 carries for 73 yards and 1 TD. Randy Moss had a quiet day catching 5 passes for 55 yards. Percy Harvin returned the opening kickoff in the second half for a TD and had 2 carries for 18 yards and 3 receptions for 21 yards. Harvin played out of the back field on some 3rd downs during the game. Look for the Vikes to use him there more meaning his rushing yardage could climb little adding onto his receiving and kick returning stats. Overall the Vikings offense didn't do much but look for them to have a good game against a injury plagues Packers D next week.

Cowboys: Tony Romo couldn't save the Cowboys season this week. Romo threw 2 costly INTs and ended the game with 220 yards and 3 TDs. Roy Williams caught 2 of those 3 passing TDs to continue his reemergence as a viable WR. Wiliams finished the game with just 3 catches for 28 yards. Miles Austin was shutdown some how by the Vikings only catching 2 passes for 12 yards. Dez Bryant caught the other TD and it was his only catch of the game. Felix Jones had 24 touches compared to Marion Barbers 13. Jones had just 32 yards on 14 carries but he grabbed 10 passes for 61 yards making his day a good one for his owners in PPR leagues. Barber rushed 10 times for 30 yards and had 3 catches for 15 yards. Look for Jones to continue to get the majority of carries in Dallas but Barber will stay involved in the short yardage game and goal line.
