Randy Moss

So now that we know that Randy Moss is off to Tennessee, a team he reportedly was on his list of teams he would play for, we must look at how this will affect the Titans and Minnesota Vikings from a fantasy viewpoint.

First let go over Minnesota. Obviously this is a huge blow to the whole Vikings offense. Starting with Brett Favre who has been struggling all season and has went from a solid QB1 to a QB2 and possibly even waiver wire fodder in some leagues now will probably return to those numbers we saw early in the season. Brett Favre in my opinion can be dropped in all leagues at this point. The player that benefited the most from Randy Moss on the Vikings was Percy Harvin. Harvin saw his best fantasy production of the year when Moss was acquired from the Patriots because it meant he could return to his normal spot in the slot. Now if Harvin has to go back to the outside like he did early in the season Harvin will be no more than a WR3 the rest of the year. Also Harvin is dealing with a ankle sprain that could keep him out this week. If that injury lingers Harvin should not be in any fantasy lineups. The Minnesota Vikings activated Sidney Rice off the PUP list this week and he has began taking  part in WR drills at practice. I wouldn't read too much into this because the Vikings had to take him off the list this week or he would have been out the rest of the season. Rice reportedly looked very rusty which is expected but he has yet to take any hits so who knows how his hip will shape up. Don't except Rice to be ready to play for a few more weeks and when he does finally play I wouldn't expect much out of him for a few weeks while he gets back into the game. Visanthe Shiancoe could start seeing more passes go his way but as we saw early in the season before the trade teams started to key on him and take him out of the game. Look for Shiancoe to see a small boost in his numbers. As for Adrian Peterson this hurts him a bit now that teams will start to stack the box again but this won't hurt Adrian's fantasy value that much because for most of his career with the Vikings he has played with poor WR cores and still put up big numbers.

For the Tennessee Titans this is a good move by them. This past week Kenny Britt, who had been tearing it up for fantasy owners, left the game with a hamstring injury. There have been some mixed messages on if he would be out for a extended period of time or just a week or so. One can view that with the Titans claiming Moss off waivers that maybe Britt's injury is as bad as feared early on. In any case when Britt does finally return from injury his production will be limited because of the addition of Moss. For Nate Washington and Justin Gage this doesn't bode well for them. Look for them to see less playing time when Britt does come back. Chris Johnson has to be loving the addition of Moss. Moss gives the Titans legit deep threat that can make defenses take the 8th guy out of the box. This move makes Johnson a more dangerous RB with is ability to take any carry from anywhere on the field to the house. As for the impact on the QBs it doesn't change that much for Vince Young. Young should be viewed as a QB2 at best with this move The Titans don't pass that much and won't change their offense philosophy just because of Moss. What they have now works so why change it. As for Randy Moss I would view him as a WR2 right now with the potential to be a WR1 depending on how quickly he gets used in the Titans gameplan. Because of the Titans being a team that doesn't throw that much I wouldn't except Moss' receptions to be that high on a weekly basis. But he does have great potential to score a TD every week with the move to Tennessee.

Waiver Wire 8

There is not much out there this week by the way of waiver wire pickups.

Quarterbacks

Josh Freeman, Bucs: Freeman has done a solid job this season in leading the Bucs to a 5-2 record. Freeman has threw a TD and over 200 yards each game for the last 4 weeks. Freeman is not a guy thats going to light up the world but he has proved this year he can manage the games well. Freeman has just 3 INTs on the year to compare to his 8 passing TDs. He will also add in some decent rushing yards for a QB every week also. For teams desperate for a QB to play this week Freeman makes a good bye week fill in going up against the Falcons who were torched by the Bengals last time we saw them play.

Wide Receiver

Steve Breaston, Cardinals: Breaston may still be on your leagues waiver wire because of a early season injury that kept him out 3 games. Breaston returned this week and had a big game putting up 147 yards on 6 receptions. Breaston has played just 4 games this season but in those 4 games he has 22 receptions, 330 yards and 1 TD. 2 of his 4 games he went over 100 yards receiving. With Larry Fitzgerald stretching the field and being double teamed it leaves Breaston free to work the underneath routes and Derek Anderson seems to fair better going to Breaston than to Fitzgerald. Breaston should be viewed as a solid WR3 moving forward and should be owned in bigger leagues.

Tight End

Jacob Tamme, Colts: With Dallas Clark out the rest of the season Tamme has stepped up to replace Clark in the Colts offense. Tamme hauled in 6 passes for 64 yards and a TD on Monday night against the Texans. Tamme isn't as skilled of a receiver as Clark but he is still a solid pass catching TE. Tamme should be owned in all leagues and viewed as a TE1 throughout the rest of the year. For teams looking for a TE Tamme should be a top waiver wire pickup for them.
