Week 5 Recap Early Games

Jaguars 36, Bills 26
Jaguars: Since the Jaguars added 3 QBs in just 2 weeks, David Garrard has responded. Garrard threw for just 178 yards but he had 3 passing TDs. In the last two weeks Garrard has thrown 5 TDs and rushed for another and only turned the ball over once. If Garrard can continue to play well he make a decent QB2. Maurice Jones-Drew had 84 yards on 19 carries and 2 recptions for 9 yards. Jones-Drew had a good game last week but if he doesn't start scoring TDs he could be on the sell list in the trading market. Deji Karim rushed for 70 yards on 15 yards. It appears the rookie RB has taken over as the #2 back in Jacksonville and Jones-Drew owners should pick him up as a handcuff. Mike Sims-Walker scored a TD this week and had 46 yards on 4 catches. Mike Thomas also had a nice game totaling 53 yards rushing on 3 carries and 51 yards on 4 catches. Sims-Walker and Thomas are no better than WR3/WR4 right now. Marcedes Lewis scored 2 more TDs this week and finished the game with 54 yards on 4 receptions. Lewis right now has played well enough to be considered a TE1.

Bills: With the trade of Marshawn Lynch to Seattle, Fred Jackson (12-73) took over as the main back in Buffalo. Jackson is a RB4 at this point. Rookie CJ Spiller should see an expanded role with the trade but this week wasnt the case. Spiller had 5 carries for 31 yards and just 1 reception for 3 yards. In the long run Spiller should take over Jackson as the main back. Lee Evans (5-81-1) and Steve Johnson (5-46-2) led the way for the WRs. Ryan Fitzpatrick had a nice game with 3 TDs and 220 yards passing.

Ravens 31, Broncos 14
Ravens: Joe Flacco (14/25-196-0-0) and the Ravens passing game was quiet in this one. Flacco did rush for a TD though. Ray Rice finally busted out and had 133 yards rushing and 26 yards receiving to go along with 2 TDs. Rice's TDs were both short yardage TDs. It appears as though Rice is now getting the goal line carries which improves his stock. Willis McGahee (10-67-1) did also rush for a TD but most of his yards and TD came late in the game when the Ravens were closing the game out.

Broncos: Kyle Orton threw for over 300 yards again this week with 314 yards. He also threw 2 TDs. Orton is a solid QB1 right now and owners should ride the wave for as long as it lasts. Brandon Lloyd continued he amazing comeback  scoring 2 TDs and 135 yards on 5 catches.  Lloyd has emerged as a good WR2. Knowhon Moreno was out again but he should be back next week.

Colts 19, Chiefs 9
Colts: Peyton Manning was held without a TD this week and only threw for 244 yards. Reggie Wayne (6-75) and Pierre Garcon (6-57) led the Colts in receiving.  Austin Collie was slowed by a heel injury and only had 5 receptions for 48 yards. The Colts passing game should bounce back next week and return to normal. Joseph Addai had 89 total yards on 22 touches before leaving the game with a shoulder injury. Mike Hart replaced Addai and had 50 yards on 11 carries and at TD.

Chiefs: Jamaal Charles (16-87, 314) finally dominated the touches for the Chiefs this week. Charles had double the touches that Thomas Jones(8-19) had with 19. Charles is the better back and should get more touches but right now keep Charles's expectations down until we see if he is in for more work than Jones. Not much to say about the Chiefs passing game. Matt Cassel only had 156 yards passing and he top target again was rookie TE Tony Moeaki. Moeaki is a nice TE2 right now.

Redskins 16, Packers 13 OT
Redskins: Ryan Torain rushed for just 40 yards on 16 carries and 4 receptions for 26 yards in his first start because of the injury to Clinton Portis. Torain makes a nice RB4 with upside for fantasy owners. Donavon McNabb threw for 357 yards and had 1 passing TD. The passing TD went to rookie Anthony Armstrong who finished the day with 3 catches and 87 yards. Santana Moss bounced back and had a nice game with 7 receptions for 117 yards. Moss remains a nice WR2. Chris Cooley has a solid game with 69 yards on 7 catches. Cooley remains a TE1.

Packers: Big news on the Packers side is the injuries to Jermaichael Finley and Aaron Rodgers. Finley did score any fantasy points this week going down with a knee injury in the first series. Reports say Finley will miss 3 to 6 weeks. Aaron Rodgers (27/46-293-1-1) suffered a concussion in the OT and it is unknown if he will play next week. Make sure to check practice reports on Rodgers.

Lions 44, Rams 6
Lions: Shaun Hill led the Lions to its first victory this year with 3 passing TDs and 227 yards passing. Hill has been a nice QB2 and great bye week fill in since replacing the injury Matt Stafford. Calvin Johnson (4-54-1), Nate Burleson (4-56-1), and Brandon Pettigrew (4-26-1) all had TDs this week. The bad news is that Calvin Johnson suffered a shoulder injury that the Lions are "very concerned" about. Make sure to check on Johnson's practice reports this week before starting him. Jahvid Best had 67 yards rushing and 37 receiving yards. Best appears to be bothered by that toe injury and may not put up big numbers until he is 100% healthy.

Rams: Mark Clayton went down with a season ending knee injury and it effected the Rams. Sam Bradford was quiet throwing for 215 yards and zero TDs and 2 INTs. With Clayton out for the year Bradford should be downgraded to a low end QB2 now. Denny Amendola stepped up replace Clayton and had 12 receptions for 95 yards. Steven Jackson rushed for 114 yards on 25 carries and still looks to not be 100% healthy yet. Jackson remains a good RB2.

Bears 23, Panthers 6
Bears: Matt Forte rushed the Bears to victory this week with 166 yards and 2 TDs. Forte also added 2 catches for 22 yards. I still advise trading Matt Forte because of his fantasy playoff matchups for the Patriots, Vikings, and Jets. Todd Collins threw 4 INTs and the Bears WRs were quiet all game. Look for the passing game to bounce back when Cutler returns from his concussion.

Panthers: Jimmy Clausen was horrid again this week passing for just 61 yards and 1 INT. Clausen was pulled for Matt Moore in the second half and Moore didn't far any better. Moore threw 2 INTs and just 35 yards. DeAngelo Williams led touches again with 15. while Jonathan Stewart had just 9. Williams rushed for 51 yards and Stewart rushed for 30 yards. With Steve Smith out and the horrid QB play Williams  should be viewed as a RB3 at most and maybe should be traded if possible. While Stewart at this point can probably be dropped in most leagues.

Buccaneers 24, Bengals 21
Buccaneers: Mike Williams continued his solid rookie season scoring his 3 TD of the season. Williams also had 7 catches for 99 yards. Williams is a great WR4 and could be moving into a WR3 if he continues to play well. Josh Freeman had 1 TD and 280 yards passing with 1 INT. Coming into this week it appeared LeGarrette Blount would get a good chunk of carries but only had 4 this week. While Caddy Williams had 11 carries for just 33 yards. Earnest Graham had 65 yards rushing on 3 carries and 1 TD. As of now avoid this backfield at all costs.

Bengals: Cedric Benson rushed for a season high 144 yards on 23 carries and added in 19 yards receiving. Benson remains a decent RB2. Carson Palmer threw 3 INTs that killed the Bengals and Palmer had 209 yards passing and 2 TDs. Chad Ochocinco was quiet for the 4th straight game with just 3 catches for 20 yards. While Terrell Owens continued his good play hauling in 7 catches for 102 yards and 1 TD. Right now Owens has moved to a WR3 while Ochocinco has fallen to a WR3 for fantasy owners.

Falcons 20, Browns 10
Falcons: Michael Turner rushed for 140 yards on 19 carries and was held scoreless again. Turner has put up solid yardage totals but owners drafted him because he scores TDs. But so far this year he has just 1 TD. Turner needs to start scoring TDs or he may be a tradeable player in the next few weeks. Roddy White continued his bid to be the top fantasy WR this year hauling in 5 balls for 101 yards and 1 TD.

Browns: Peyton Hillis scored again this week and has a TD in every game so far this season. Hillis has been exellent and is a great sell high player right now. Hillis had 14 touches for a total of 77 yards. There isnt much else to say but the Browns. The only other thing is that they have a slew of injured QBs.

Giants 34, Texans 10
Giants: Eli Manning (27/42-297-3-2) hooked up with Hakeem Nicks twice in this game and Nicks finished with 12 receptions for 130 yards. Nicks is a great WR2 right now and should not be benched. Steve Smith had a nice game with 6 receptions for 89 yards and 1 TD. Smith has been quiet this season and is no more than a WR3. Ahmed Bradshaw had 67 yards rushing and 22 receiving but zero TDs . Brandon Jacobs got the rushing TD and had 41 yards on 10 carries. Bradshaw is still the main back in New York and a solid RB2.

Texans: Arian Foster was held to just 25 yards on 11 carries and he lost a 1 yard TD to Derrick Ward because of a banged up knee. Foster is reportedly fine and should be ready to go next week. Matt Schaub was horrid passing for just 196 yards and 1 INT. Schaub was a great QB1 last year but with Andre Johnson (5-95) banged up and the emergence of Foster at RB he has put up just decent numbers. Schaub is a mid level QB1 right now until Johnson is healthy.
