Week 4 Recap Early Games

Jets 38, Bills 10
Jets: The Jets came out like excepted and won easily. Matt Sanchez had another solid gaming throwing for 2 TDs and 161 yards. LaDanian Tomlinson continued his revival rushing for 2 TDs and gaining a total of 155 yards on 22 touches. Tomlinson again remained the lead back for the Jets and can be started with confidence. Shonn Greene also rushed for 117 yards on 22 carries. Most of the carries came with the game already in hand for the Jets. Greene remains the second fiddle in the Jets rushing game and is no more than a RB3/Flex right now. Dustin Keller scored 2 more TDs this week and now has 5 on the season. Keller right now is one of the hottest TEs with only Antonio Gates outscoring him. Braylon Edwards scored another TD this week and had 78 yards receiving. Edwards numbers could start to fall starting next week with the return of Santonio Holmes from suspension.

Bills: As I have said before if you are relying on a Bills player then you need to find a replacement immedidately. Fitzpatrick took over the newly released Trent Edwards and throw of 2 TDs and passed for 128 yards. Edwards was also the Bills leading rusher with 7 carries for 74 yards. The only difference between Edwards and Fitzpatrick is that Fitzpatrick will at least run when the line breaks down. The backfield stayed muddled with Fred Jackson (3-21), Marshawn Lynch (4-8) and CJ Spiller (2-11) having poor games. None of the Bills backs are anything more than a RB4/RB5.

Browns 23, Bengals 20
Browns: The newly crowned starting RB Peyton Hillis scored another TD this week and 110 totals yards. Hillis has scored a TD in every game this year so far. Hillis is a solid RB3 and may be a good candidate to sell high on right now. Seneca Wallace started again and put up a decent game with 1 TD and 184 yards passing. Word is that Wallace will move to the bench again once Jake Delhomme returns. Evan Moore scored the only receiving TD.

Bengals: Terrell Owens had his breakout game for the Bengals hauling in 10 passes for 222 yards and a 1 TD. Owens benefited from the Browns gameplan of doubling Chad Ochocinco (3-59). Owens remains a WR3 while Ochocinco is the better play as a WR2. Cedric Benson returned to his medicore play only rushing for 60 yards on 15 carries. Benson is a low end RB2 and will have more down games than up games this year with the Bengals commitment to passing. Carson Palmer didn't throw a INT and threw for 2 TDs and 371 passing yards. But he lost two fumbles that hurt the Bengals chances to win the game.

Ravens 17, Steelers  14
Ravens: Joe Flacco put up decent numbers throwing for 1 TD and 1 INT along with 256 yards passing. Flacco remains a low end QB1 as of right now until he can be more consistent with his play. Ray Rice was slowed by a knee injury and only carries the ball 8 times for 20 yards. Willis McGahee took over Rice's main RB duties and rushed for 39 yards on 14 carries and 1 TD. Hopefully Rice can return to full health soon for his owners or he is looking like one of the top busts of the first round picks right now. Anquan Boldin (7-68) was solid and remains a great WR2 with nice upside. TJ Houshmandzadeh scored the winning TD and finished the day with 49 yards on 3 catches. Derrick Mason also hauled in 6 balls for 80 yards. Mason and Housh remain WR4s.

Steelers: Rashard Mendenhall put up a great effort rushing for 2 TDs and 79 yards rushing but it wasn't enough to beat the Ravens. Mike Wallace (2-24) and Hines Ward (2-14) will be happy that this game was over. Not because of their poor numbers but because it will be the last game they will have to play without Ben Roethlisberger barring an injury. Big Ben returns to the Steelers next game in Week 6. Ward and Wallace make great WR plays the rest of the season now. If you can get them cheap in trades do it and reap the awards.

Broncos 26, Titans 20
Broncos: Knowshon Moreno was sidelined again with a hamstring injury and Laurence Maroney (11-5) and Correll Buckhalter (6-3, 5-38-1) replaced him. Neither Maroney or Buckhalter are worth starting with Moreno out. Kyle Orton threw for over 300 yards again this week finishing with a total of 341 yards and 2 TDs and 1 INT. Orton is off to a hot start this year and is leading the NFL in passing yards with 1,419. Orton is a solid QB1 right now. Because of the Broncos pass happy  gameplan and Orton's solid play, Brandon Lloyd again put up big numbers catching 11 passes for 115 yards but was held scoreless. Eddie Royal hauled in 1 of Orton's passing TDs and had a total of 113 yards on 8 receptions . Lloyd and Royal make great WR3 for fantasy owners.

Titans: Chris Johnson was shut down for the 2nd time this season only rushing for 53 yards and zero TDs.  Johnson so far this year has been a every other week player so next week he should be in for a good game. Vince Young managed the game well for the Titans by not turning the ball over and passing for 173 yards and  1 TD. Young is a low end QB2. Nate Washington led the WRs with 4 catches for 42 yards. But the TD went to Kenny Britt who finished the game with 3 catches for 23 yards. This is the 2nd week in a row that Britt has catch a TD but he is no more than a WR4.

Packers 28, Lions 26
Packers: Aaron Rodgers started off hot throwing for 3 TDs in the first half. But he followed it up by throwing 2 INTs in the second and only finishing the game with 181 yards passing and 30 rushing. Rodgers is still an Elite QB in fantasy football though. Again Brandon Jackson (9-33) and John Kuhn (9-39) shared the backfield duties. As of right now neither are worth a start in fantasy leagues unless you are desperate for a starter. Donald Driver led the WRs with 3 catches for 89 yards and a TD. Greg Jennings only had 2 catches for 25 yards but salvaged his game with a TD. Driver continues to be a better option at WR than Jennings. Jermichael Finley scored his first TD of the season and ended with 4 catches for 36 yards.

Lions: Jahvid Best was slowed by a bum toe and only gained 87 yards on 17 touches. Best is a solid RB2 but his numbers may be hurt until he gets healed. Calvin Johnson has put up decent numbers with Matt Stafford out and today he did again with 2 TDs on 6 receptions and 86 yards receiving.  Until Stafford returns Calvin won't put up the elite WR1 numbers that are excepted from him but he is doing good with Shaun Hill. Speaking of Hill he threw for over 300 yards game with 331 today and 2 TDs. But he threw 2 INTs and continued to turn the ball over too much. The TEs Brandon Pettigrew (8-91) and Tony Scheffler (6-63) put in good games but both remain bye week plays at best.

Falcons 16, 49ers 14
Falcons: Michael Turner has had a medicore start of this season. He rushed for 60 yards on 16 carries. He also had 3 receptions for 28 yards. Turner has been a TD scoring machine since going to Atlanta but so far he only has 1 TD this season. Turner needs to start getting into the endzone or he may be  given a sell tag in the trade market for his fantasy owners. Roddy White hauled in 7 catches for 104 yards and remains a elite WR1 as he continues to play well. Matt Ryan had one of his average games this week. Ryan passed for 273 yards and 1 TD. But he also threw 2 INTs. Ryan is a low end QB1 that has a big upside if he can put up consistent numbers. TE Tony Gonzalez hauled in 7 passes for just 41 yards and is still a solid TE1.

49ers: Alex Smith continued his struggles with just 188 yards and 1 TD and 2 INTs. Smith's poor play this season has hurt Michael Crabtree (5-58) and Vernon Davis (4-36-1). Its looks as though the problem wasn't with recently fired OC Jimmy Raye and that Alex Smith is the one to blame of the 49ers early season problems. Something needs to change or Crabtree and Davis' fantasy value will continue to fall. Frank Gore is somewhat unharmed by Smith's play. Gore rushed for 77 yards on 21 carries and hauled in 7 passes for 60 yards but went without a TD. Gore remains a solid RB1 and if Smith can start playing better Gore could put up even better numbers especially in the TD category.

Saints 16, Panthers 14
Saints: Pierre Thomas was held out with an ankle injury. With Reggie Bush also out with a broken leg, Rookie Christopher Ivory (12-67) and Ladell Betts (13-47, 4-23) rotated in the backfield. Ivory is probably the more valuable of the two and is definitely worth a pickup in dynasty leagues. Drew Brees had a poor game for Brees standards only passing for 1 TD and 275 yards. Lance Moore scored another TD this week but only managed 37 yards on 5 catches. Marques Colston had a weak game with just 4 catches for 36 yards. Colston is viewed as the Saints WR1 but he doesnt put up WR1 type numbers. Colston is more like a average WR2 for fantasy owners. Jeremy Shockey had another good game hauling in 6 passes for 58 yards. Since Bush went down Shockey has seen more balls go his way and is worth a pick up and playable for fantasy owners until Bush gets back.

Panthers: DeAngelo Williams finally had a good game rushing for 86 yards and 1 TD.  Jonathan Stewart also scored a TD on a 55 yard reception and ended the day with 21 rushing yards and the 55 yards receiving on the TD. Williams  continues to dominate the touches in the Panther backfield and should be viewed as a RB2. While Stewart even though scoring a TD this week is more like a RB3 until his number of touches go up. Jimmy Clausen had a better game this week. He didn't turn the ball over and threw 1 TD and 146 yards passing. Steve Smith (2-11) left the game with what was called a high ankle sprain. Smith was shown in alot of pain after it happened and might be out for a while.

Rams 20, Seahawks 3
Rams: Steven Jackson ended up playing this week even though he was nursing a groin injury. Jackson had a total of 124 yards on 25 touches. Jackson looked to be fine and should started next week with confidence. Jackson puts up solid yardage stats but for him to be considered a RB1 he needs to start adding some TDs to that yardage. Sam Bradford played good again passing for 289 yards and 2 TDs and 1 INT. Bradford in my opinion has played himself into a QB2 for fantasy owners and should be viewed as a great bye week fill in for teams.  Mark Clayton remains he favorite target with 5 catches for 72 yards this week.

Seahawks: Seahawks continue their hekyll and jyde season. Matt Hasselbeck tuned the ball over 2 times and only had 191 yards passing and zero TDs. One positive thing out of the Seahawks this week was that Justin Forsett again dominated the carries for the Seahawks. Forsett rushed 19 times for 65 yards.  Forsett looks as to have taken over the starting RB job in Seattle. He hasn't done much with it but coming into the the season he was a good sleeper candidate at RB and now can be viewed as a low end RB3. The WRs in Seatlle are a mess so no need in talking about them. TE John Carlson however is worth taking about since he is getting a high number of targets for a TE. This week though was a bad one since Carlson only had 1 catch for 15 yards.
