Trade Market

Its now to the point of the season were there isn't much out on the waiver wire and the only way to improve you team is through trades. Here is my opionon who should be sold and bought in the fantasy football trade market.

SELL

  • Matt Forte, RB, Bears. Matt Forte busted out week 1 with a 201 total yards and 2 TDs on 24 touches. Since then Forte has averaged just 38 yards of offense a game and has only scored 1 TD. Forte last year was highly drafted and disappointed his owners and I don't see much change this year. Forte is a Mike Martz run offense which should be a bonus for him but so far it has not. Martz is known to abandon the run early in games and with the horrid offense line that the Bears have Forte will continue to struggle running the ball. Also Forte during the most important weeks for fantasy owners, 14-16, goes up against the New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings, and the New York Jets. The time is now to unload Forte.
  • Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Cardinals. Coming into the season it was unknown how the retirement of Kurt Warner would affect the fantasy production of Larry Fitzgerald. Matt Leinart was the starting QB heading in camp but when he was cut and replaced with Derek Anderson some fantasy owners took heed and stayed away from Fitzgerald. Those owners were correct in there judgement on not wasting a 2nd round pick on the once dominate fantasy WR. Fitzgerald so far has 19 receptions for 208 yard and 2 TDs. Those aren't bad numbers but Fitzgerald was drafted as a WR1 by fantasy owners and these stats are far from that. It also isn't going to get any easier for the Cardinal as undrafted rookie Max Hall has been named the starting QB who last week didn't far any better than Derek Anderson when he came into the game. Its probably best that you try and unload Fitzgerald right now on the value of his name alone.

BUY
  • Ryan Mathews, RB, Chargers: It might be hard to get him now since he returned last week from an injury and rushed for a TD and 55 yards. But Mike Tolbert dominated in carries that game and also rushed for a TD and 100 yards rushing. Mathews owners may be worried that Tolbert will be taking over in San Diego or at least have a even share in a committee. But head coach Norv Turner said that Mathews is still the starter and that they held him back last week because of the ankle injury and an elbow injury he sustained in practice last week. Tolbert is a fullback and has never been asked to carry the load at running back in his NFL career. The Chargers traded up to draft Ryan Mathews in the first round for a reason. Look for Mathews to reclaim his starter role this week against the Raiders. Tolbert will still get some carries and goal line touches but Mathews will be the back that leads the way.
  • Felix Jones, RB, Cowboys: Reports coming out of the bye week for Dallas said that the Cowboys as an organization agreed that Felix Jones should be the lead back for them because Marion Barber "slows down" their offense when he is on the field. Felix Jones is the more dynamic player of the two and has the best chance to take one to the house on any given play. Jones has shown what he can do when he gets a good amount of touches. Just go back and look at his game logs and playoff games last year. The Cowboys are at 1-3 right now and have struggled to run the ball. If they want to make the playoffs and go to the Super Bowl that they are hosting in Dallas they need to find a running game and Felix Jones is the answer.
  • Tom Brady, QB, Patriots. I am going to go out on a limb with this one here. Brady's stock has fallen with the trade of Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings. His owners have to be worried that Brady won't have the season that they were excepting him to have now. If you are a team that is looking for a steady QB go after Tom Brady. Brady isn't going to throw for over 30 TDs and 4000 yards now but he will still put up decent numbers. Look for Brady to threw somewhere in the neighborhood of 3600 yards and around 26 TDs. Those numbers aren't bad but they are not what the Brady owner was looking for when they drafted him. I would take a shot at Brady and see if you could get him cheap.
