week 2 Recap Early Games

Packers 34, Bills 7
Packers: Aaron Rodgers lead the way for the Packers with 255 yards passing and 3 TDs (2 pass, 1 rushing). Brandon Jackson the newly appointed starting RB for the Packers due to the season ending injury only managed 29 yards on 11 carries but scored a 1 yard TD in the first quarter. This wasn't the type of game that Jackson owners were excepting with such a favorable matchup. Jackson should be considered a low end RB2 until he shows he can be a more reliable. John Kuhn out rushed Jackson with 36 yards on his 9 carries. Greg Jennings had a quiet game only catching 3 balls for 36 yards. Donald Driver  had a similar type of game hauling in 4 passes for 38 yards and 1 TD. The leader was Jermichael Finley lead all Packers in the receiving game with 4 catches for 104 yards. Finley is becoming one of the elite TEs in fantasy football. Rodgers second TD went to #3 WR James Jones on a 30 yard pass in the fourth quarter. James Jones ended the day with 3 catches and 32 yards. If they were to happen be a injury to either Driver or Jennings, James Jones is a must own in every league.

Bills: If you have a Buffalo Bill in your starting lineup you need to stop playing fantasy football. Until the Bills find a legit NFL QB they won't have anything more than a bye week flier. Trent Edwards was not very good throwing 2 INTs and ending the day with 102 yards passing. The running back situation is one of the worst in fantasy football. Highly touted rookie CJ Spiller looked good in the preseason and was thought to be taking over the starting job in Buffalo. But today Spiller only had 1 carry for 3 yards and that carry wasn't until just before the two minute waring in the fourth quarter. Spiller did have 4 catches for 23 yards. Fred Jackson was thought to be the starter if Spiller wasn't. Jackson carried the ball 9 times for 39 yards and 1 TD but the leading rushing today for the Bills for Marshawn L:ynch who carried the ball 17 times today for 64 yards. Stay away from this situation at all costs. For the Bills receiving game its not worth going over, so If you have one drop them and pick up someone else.

Dolphins 15, Vikings 10
Dolphins: Dolphins D is the story for them today. They caused 4 Brett Favre turnovers today and sacked him 3 times. One was a fumble that was recovered in the endzone for a TD that ended up being the difference in the game.  Chad Henne wasn't asked to do much in this game was ended the game with 114 yards and 1 TD with no turnovers. The potent rushing game of the Dolphins ran well today. Ronnie Brown the lead back in the committee rushed 13 times for 80 yards. Most  of it came on a 51 yard run from the Dolphins own 1 yard line after stuffing Adrian Peterson on the 4th down. Second back Ricky Williams rushed 10 times for 30 yards. Both backs fumbled once and lost both fumbles. These fumbles kept Minnesota in the game. Brandon Marshall started the day out with a 46 yard reception and was looking to be off to a big game but the Vikings held him in check and Marshall ended the gay with 4 catches and 71 yards. Brian Hartline was criticized in the papers down in Miami for his inconsistent play and he kinda responded this week with a 3 catches for 28 yards and a touchdown. It is still to be seen if he will finally put everything together.

Vikings: Brett Favre (225-0-3) threw 3 interceptions and lost 1 fumble which ended in a Dolphins TD today.. Brett Favre right now should not be in starting lineups until the Vikings can find some sort of help for Favre in the passing game (Vincent Jackson). Percy Harvin did look early one to be in for a solid game snatching 5 Favre passes for 32 yards. Harvin was being involved in the Vikings gameplan a lot in the first half but near the end of the first half Harvin left the game after aggravating a hip injury. Harvin didn't return and is reportedly having a MRI tomorrow.  With Harvin hurt the Vikings passing game will only suffer more. Visanthe Shiancoe remained a solid TE play for fantasy owners. Shiancoe lead the Vikings with 6 receptions for 86 yards. With the injuries and poor receiver play from the Vikings Shiancoe remains a must start. Adrian Peterson had a typical day for him running hard and breaking tackles for extra yards all game. Peterson caught 4 passes for 51 yards to go along with his 145 yards rushing and a TD. Adrian was stuffed 4 straight times near the goal line also which was another reason the Vikings lose.

Chiefs 16, Browns 14
Chiefs: Matt Cassel (176-0-2) again wasn't asked to do much as the Chiefs rushing attack took center stage again. Jamaal Charles the star from last weeks upset of the Chargers took a back seat to Thomas Jones in touches this week. Thomas Jones carried the ball 22 times for 83 yards and 1 catch for 5 yards while Jamaal Charles ran the ball only 11 times for 49 yards and added 1 reception for 27 yards. As long as Thomas Jones is healthy he will eat into Charles' number severely. Charles can not be reliable upon as a RB1 and should be considered a RB2 until further notice. With Jones around Charles looks to be in for up and down weeks. Dwayne Bowe caught 4 passes for 45 yards and Chris Chambers had only 3 receptions for 33 yards. The leading pass catcher for the Chiefs was rookie tight end Tony Moeaki (5-58). Moeaki also caught a TD last week against Chargers. Moeaki should be picked up in dynasty type leagues and in deep leagues.

Browns: Seneca Wallace got the start for the injured Jake Delhomme. Wallace had a okay game throwing for a 226 yards and a TD and a interception. The TD came on a 65 yard bomb to Joshua Cribbs who ended the day with 3 catches and 74 yards. Mohamed Massquoi who had the long TD last week only managed 1 catch today for 9 yards. Neither Cribbs or Massaquoi should be in starting lineups and only be considered bye week fliers. Jerome Harrison this week lead the backfield for the Browns with 16 carries for 33 yards and caught 3 passes for 35 yards. But hybrid back Peyton Hillis again scored the TD this time from 1 yard out. Hillis outrushed Harrison on his 8 carries with 35 yards. Hillis also 3 passes for 26 yards.

Bears 27, Cowboys 20
Bears: Jay Cutler had another good game for the Bears this week with 277 yards and 3 TDs. Cutlers top receiver this week was Johnny Know who had 4 catches for 86 yards but no TD. Devin Hester was one of the recipients of Cutlers TD passes. Hester caught a 9 yards TD and had a total of 77 yards on 4 catches.  Greg Olsen's only caught was a 39 yard recpection that resulted in a TD. Olsen once thought to be a up and coming TE for fantasy football still remains a TE2 at best. Devin Aromashodu who was hyped all preseason long had no catches and us now moved down the depth chart behind Earl Bennett. Aromashodu can be dropped for better options. Matt Forte followed up last weeks great game with somewhat of a dud this week if it wasn't for a 3 yard TD reception. Forte only rushed for 29 yards on 10 carries and had 5 catches for 37 yards. Forte is still a solid RB2 but it looks like his expectations should be tempered against better defenses.

Cowboys: Tony Romo and Miles Austin continued their love affair. Romo threw for 372 yards and 1 TD but he also threw 2 interceptions. Austin was Romo's main target again hauling in another 10 passes for 142 yards. Rookie Dez Bryant scored his first NFL touchdown. Bryant returned a punt in the first quarter 62 yards for a touchdown and followed that up with 2 catches for 52 yards. Romo's touchdown went to FB Chris Gronkowski on a 1 yard catch. Jason Witten had 5 catches for 51 yards but suffered a concussion and did not return to the game. Marion Barber lead in rushing for the Cowboys with 31 yards on 11 carries. Felix Jones only had 7 carries and only had 7 yards.   If the Cowboys want to win football games they need to get the running game going. Barber and Jones at this point are not anywhere near starting material in fantasy leagues. and Felix Jones is almost droppable in most leagues.

Falcons 41, Cardinals 7
Falcons: How great is it to not play the Steelers every week. Matt Ryan was great today passing for 3 TDs and 225 yards in the blowout. Ryan's top receiver again was Roddy White who hauled in 7 passes for 78 yards and 1 TD. The big news out of this game though was the groin injury suffered by Michael Turner (9-75) in the second quarter. The groin injury is believed to be minor and Turner could have returned if not for the blowout by the Falcons. Due to Turner's injury Jason Snelling had a game to remember. Snelling has 129 yards rushing and 5 receptions for 57 yards to go along with 3 TDs. Snelling if not already is a must handcuff to Turner. If he is available he should be picked up in case Turners injury isn't
minor.

Cardinals: Tim Hightower continues to put up points with Beanie Wells nursing an injury. Hightower busted out a 80 yard TD run and ended the day with 115 yards rushing on 11 carries. As long as Wells is out Hightower makes a solid RB2 candidate for owners. Derek Anderson and that inaccuarate arm continued to struggle. Anderson completed only 17 passes out of the 31 attempts he had. He threw for 161 yards and 2 interceptions. The only positive thing this week is that Larry Fitzgerald had better game receiving. Fitzgerald had 7 receptions for 83 yards but was keep out of the endzone.

Buccaneers 20, Panthers 7
Buccaneers: Josh Freeman continued his solid play throwing for 2 TDs and 178 yards. Freeman also added 48 yards on the ground. Freeman remains a great dynasty type league quarterback and could be a starter worthy quarterback in a few seasons. Rookie wide receiver Mike Williams caught another TD this week on the way to 2 catches for 54 yards. Kellen Winslow who was in doubt of playing today lead the Bucs in receiving with 4 repections for 83 yards. Outside of Winslow Mike Williams is Freemans number #2 option and should be picked up a stashed on benches. Cadillac Williams continued to be the top rusher for the Bucs carrying the ball 27 yards for 51 yards. Caddy Williams is a RB3/Flex play at best.

Panthers: Where is the dominate rushing attack of the Panthers? DeAngelo Williams ran the ball 17 times for only 54 yards and 3 catches for 20 yards. Williams' counterpart Jonathon Stewart did more with his limited carries this week rushing 8 times for 43 yards. Right now its tough going for Williams and Stewart owners but hopefully better days are to come. Williams is the only one that should be considered for starting lineups and Stewart could when the bye weeks come in the upcoming weeks. Steve Smith (3-66-1) had another TD this week with a 37 yard TD from Matt Moore. Matt Moore continued his struggles only throwing for 125 yards and 1 TD and 2 turnovers. Moore was benched for rookie Jimmy Clausen in the fourth quarter. Clausen didn't light up the game but had a 59 yards on 7 completions and 1 interception. No word on who will start next week at QB but neither of these guys should be considered starters.

Eagles 35, Lions 32
Eagles: The great QB debate has begun in Philly. Reid said Kolb would be the starter in week 3 before todays game if he is healthy. Michael Vick went out and made it hard on Reid to send he back to the bench when Kolb returns. Vick  had a excellent game throwing 2 TDs and not turning the ball over. Vick threw for 284 yards and rushed for 37 yards in his first start since 2007. His top receiver was DeSean Jackson had good game hauling in 135 yards and 1 TD on 4 receptions. Jeremy Maclin scored the other TD ending the day with 3 catches for 26 yards.  Brent Celek had 3 receptions for 27 yards. With the departure of McNabb Celek has struggled to generate the type of stats he had last year. Celek should be looked at a low end TE1 and maybe a TE2 this year. LeSean McCoy continued his Brian Westbrooke imitation.  McCoy had a total of 20 touches today which resulted in 128 yards and 3 TDs. I admit that I was off on LeSean McCoy this preseason and McCoy should be considered a RB1 until further notice.

Lions: Ryan Mathews was the top rookie RB taken in drafts this year a good 3 to 4 rounds ahead of Jahvid Best. But Best is outperforming Mathews greatly so far. Best had a hell of a game today rushing 78 yards and 2 TDs. Best did most of his damage though through the air. He had 9 receptions for 154 yards and 1 TD. Best had exceeded expectations for owners and can be considered a RB1. Shaun Hill had a solid first game in filling in for the injured Matt Stafford. Hill threw for 335 yards and 2 TDs and 2 interceptions. Tight end Brandon Pettigrew had growing pains last year in his first season but today had his best game in his young career. Pettigrew hauled in 7 passes for 108 yards. Calvin Johnson scored a late TD and 2 point conversion for the Lions and ended the day with 50 yards on 4 catches. It was good to see Calvin had a solid game with Hill in at QB even though it didn't start out good.

Bengals 15, Ravens 10
Bengals: Bengals came back from their blowout loss to New England last week and took a good Ravens team by surprise. Carson Palmer only threw for 167 yards and no TDs but this week he did not turn the ball over. Terrell Owens lead the Bengals in receiving yards with 57 yards on 3 receptions. Chad Ochocinco only had 4 receptions for 44 yards after his big game last week. Chalk this one up to a tough matchup for Batman and Robin. Rookie tight end Jermaine Gresham had just 3 catches for 15 yards this week. Bulldozer Cedric Benson rushed 23 times for 78 yards, Benson is a solid RB2 and no more than that and could be benched depending on matchups. Kicker Mike Nugent was big for the Bengals connecting on all 5 of his field goal attempts.

Ravens: Coming off a big win over the Jets the Ravens laid an egg. Joe Flacco threw 4 interceptions and finished the day only with 154 yards and 1 TD. Anquan Boldin, Flacco's top receiver last week, lead again this week with 5 receptions for a measly 35 yards. Todd Heap did play this week after being questionable because of a shoulder injury had 4 catches for 35 yards.  Derrick Mason's only catch was a 31 yard TD. Ray Rice so far has not played like a top 5 draft pick. Today Rice had 16 rush attempts for 87 yards and 4 receptions for 30 yards.Rice should still be a never bench player though and better games should come from Rice.

Steelers 19, Titans 11
Steelers: The Steelers are 2-0 without their pro bowl quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. They started the game off today with a kick return and was only TD they scored all day. Dennis Dixon had to leave the game with a knee injury and finished the day with just 18 yards. Charlie Batch replaced Dixon and did not do much. It is unknown who will start for the Steelers next week. Rashard Mendenhall had a average game rushing for 69 yards on 23 carries. Mike Wallace lead in catches with 2 for 25 yards and Hines Ward only had 1 catch. Steelers defense was the star today forcing 7 turnovers and 4 sacks. Jeff Reed was 4 for 4 today in FGs and should be started every week with the offense of struggles of the Steelers. Outside of Reed and Mendenhall all other Steelers on the offensive side should not be started until Big Ben returns.

Titans: After Vince Young's solid game week 1 he followed it up with 3 turnovers and only 78 total yards. Collins replaced Young in the second half. Collins finished with 149 yards passing  and 1 TD and 3 turnovers too. Word is Vince Young should start again next week but should not be in fantasy lineups because of the benching and poor play. Chris Johnson was held in check by the tough Steelers rush D. Johnson only had 34 yards rushing and 19 recieving. Johnson should bounce back next week. The Steelers D has only allowed 1 (Ray Rice) 100 yard rusher in its last 35 games. Nate Washington caught another TD this week on the way to a 4 catch day for 43 yards.
